Studying Japanese can be extremely time consumming and for many students boring. Watching Japanese TV  Dramas: Viewing Japanese dramas can expose you to actual conversational Japanese and cultural elements of how Japanese communicate and socialize. Viewing TV dramas did wonders for not only my speaking ability, but listening competencies as well.

Studying Children’s Publications: You can discover to study many fundamental Japanese words, master hiragana and develop your vocabulary with Japanese children’s books. Image dictionaries in particular are good for building basic vocabulary.

Making Japanese Friends: Go out and make some. Not just find out about hiragana, katakana and a few hundred kanji. But learn read Kanji in context.
