Three Things To Like About Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil

There are a few good reasons to consider mobil 1 synthetic oil for keeping your engines safe.  With modern engines these days it has become increasingly important to pay attention to the motor oils your use be it synthetic motor oil or regular old dinosaur oil (conventional motor oil).

Engine compartments are more compact and more prone to temperature issues and engine design change very rapidly means it is very important for oil to live up to (and beyond) its design expectations.  I want the best engine oil available to protect my engine.

Though they seem simple motor oils are very complex and a lot goes into the proper formulation.  There are a couple of key classifications of motor oils and one is which type of base synthetic stock is being used.  There two primary classifications for synthetic motor oil one is class III and the other is class IV.  Class IV are PAO basestocks and some of the best oils on the market are made from this class of oil.

In my opinion mobil 1 synthetic oil is a superior synthetic because it is made with PAO basestock.  This is one of the reasons I like Mobil oil.  Mobil has been in synthetics so long they were almost the first one to market.  Though they did not pioneer the synthetic oil movement they do use PAO basestocks.

It is worth mentioning that mobil has enough confidence in their product to post the extended mileage interval on their bottles.  I have not checked in awhile but the last time I looked at their extended oil change product it was calling out a 15,000 mile oil change interval.  Only a few companies are willing to publish extended oil change intervals for their products.  Next to the additional protection my favorite benefit of synthetic oil is fewer oil changes per year.

Third thing to like is the data I have seen shows it has decent wear protection.  Wear protection is number one priority but in a lot of cases good enough is good enough and I think Mobil does a great job in this area.  Synthetic motor oil is not cheap (at least the good stuff isn’t) and to get your money’s worth out of it you should be able to extend oil change intervals while protecting your engine better.
