A few days ago I rented a pick up truck to move some stuff from our old apartment to new residence. Most of what I have are things in cardboard boxes, luggage bags, shoe boxes, small chairs, hiking equipment , toy bikes , some toys without boxes , in a word, it’s a mess. Of course I had the confidence that I would do a nice job before I went on packing the stuff, but the reality just taught a lesson. When I was looking at the dump site, I was just amazed by myself, I actually did this! My mind was boggled but I knew I couldn’t drive with the trunk full of “garbage”, If I went on the road with the dumpster here were what would happen: you could imagine the whole mess would collapse onto the road and might cause accident, or before anything could happen I would be stopped by a police officer and get ticketed.
I had at lease two options , I could start over and try to tidy them up and tie them down or simply find something to hold them together, in a word, I need something to tie my stuff down in the trunk, and this “something” can’t be too big or too expensive. Obviously I wasn’t going to need something like 2” ratcheting straps which has working load limit of 3,333lbs, or transport chains, I just need something a few hundred pounds strength to hold some luggage and boxes together, nothing qualifies for serious cargo tie downs.
At first I was totally lost because there so many tie downs, but when I narrow down my search to pick up truck I was able to find something useful, at first I found some 1” ratchet straps, camouflage ones, I liked these straps but they are too much in strength for me, though there were not expensive at all, cam buckle tie downs were not better in this sense, all I could see was something too much in strength, too little in real world use, what a piece of 1” ratchet strap could do with the huge pile such as the stuff on my truck? Besides, 1” ratchet straps won’t be able to hold a lot small pieces together at all. I went through a lot of information and finally arrived at cargo nets , I could choose from 48”x60” or 60”x84”, depends on my need, and this was just what I needed, It’s real easy to hold stuff with cargo net, just put the net on the stack, get the hooks hooked on the truck, done. Of course when we’re talking about cargo net we have to mention bungee cords , actually the cargo net are made of connected bungee cords. In a nutshell, the small cargo nets and bungee cords are light duty tie downs made just for the purpose of holding together and tying down small but irregular loads such as the pickup truck mess in my case. And these nets and cords are perfect cargo control stuff for cars, small trucks and small vans, you will be able get good deals all over the place.
