Save money in your home

You have   most likely  seen those commercials  dramaticizing people throwing money in the trash can  or other things representing  them throwing money away on various  things. There are a few  ways that you and I are probably doing the same thing, however. One of the largest  ways is inside your home in the way  of energy. It’s   really  easy to not even  know of the ways that your heat slides  right through a crack, adding up to quite a bit at the end of the month . There are some really cost effective ways to fix so many of the problems in your home, most that you probably do not  even know existed.

To start with , I would begin  out with a free energy evaluation. Most utility companies offer a free assesment for you to learn where you are literally tossing  money away. This covers things like cracks in your doors and windows, cold spots  in your sockets, and many  other things. Most  of these problems can be solved with a bit of  caulking and some weather proofing strips.

My husband and I recently used some of those weather proofing strips in our windows. The bottom   story  of our home is always   approximately   seven  degrees colder  than the second   story  during the winter. We blamed it on the fact that heat rises. However, now there is hardly a difference in the temperatures of the two stories! We spent approximately   $6 on this! We can’t  wait to see the difference in our gas bill next  month.

A simple  way to do an evaluation yourself in your home is to switch  all the lights off and do a walk through with a flash light. See where there are cracks that need to be filled in and you can probably do a lot  of this yourself. I challenge you to do one of these assesments and not save money in your bills!
