An example of how to operate LED Signs can provide some points of intrest if you are looking at what a specific sign will do.  This is an example of 40″ wide  x  6″  tall LED Signs that are capable of displaying one or two lines of text display and use graphics within the file. The three colors red, green and yellow provide a nice selection of colors to use for your messages .

You may control one or hundreds of signs using a intranet connection . Once your signs are all connected together, updating them from your computer is quite easy.

Once your software is installed you’ll discover that it is designed to let you use your own graphics and combine them with the digital affects unique to the sign software.  Images of this size are easy to work with and constructing custom images for your LED Sign will enhance your advertising message.

Once you’ve connected the cable (RS232 Serial Cable/Phone Jack) to the sign and to the pc.  Use the software to make a couple of test files (yourfilenames .msg) and load them into your LED Signs. This will help you discover the various affects your sign has to offer.

A quick note about the LED Sign’s remote control.   While the remote control is ok for simple text being entered into the LED sign you will find better features if you use the message editing program designed for this sign. When you use the software you have the option to combine graphics and text along with the programming features for the software.

Next create a image 128 x 16 px. then open up the software program and make a new .msg file. Then load the new graphic into your file, then you can add an effect or two which will create a very nice looking message.  Because of the size of the sign graphic it is Important that you know to make your graphic precisely 16px high otherwise you could receive an error notice when moving the message file to the LED sign.

In the above sign these are the graphics that were used. Any jerky gesture is due to the video quality, the LED sign moves evenly.

You will also notice especially the red color is washed out in the video, LED’s and digital images (photos or video) don’t record well. The colors in the LED sign are as pictured in the graphics below.
