Hotpoint Tumble Dryers, Are They Really Any Good?

I have been retailing and carrying out tumble dryer repairs for more than 30 years. When Creda began offering the new TVR2 Tumble Dryer, I told my customers to keep away from it. Some did and some didn’t.

Here are a few comments from those who didn’t.

If you’re looking for a low-cost clothes dryer, then a Creda TVR2 may appear to hit the spot, but unreliable unreliable certainly (yes I intended to say that twice!). Drum shaft has broken three times and all I can put this down to is the rubbish drum design and fragile rear vented part of the drum. It pops in and out and when in it catches the back of the unit screaming the house down. A very noisy machine and also you can be sure it will break again, causing strain on the shaft that will then inevitably wear and break up fairly quickly. Yes you can get the various components cheap enough, but you’ll find a far more dependable clothes dryer . Not recommended Creda TVR2. Sorry we actually bought it.

Cannot write my entire truthful thoughts !!!!! I’ve had a door gasket on order since Feb 3rd. Currently it’s May second and I am still awaitng the part. I have been given lots of different explanations as to why it’s not available however never once an apology FOR THE Wait And INCONVENINECE. Told part was defective and returned to manufacturer, then informed Creda had a new supplier and part was initially being tried out and improved, then advised a few did come but went to people who had been waiting longer than 3-4 months.

Bought the Creda Tumble Dryer because it seemed to be affordable and straightforward. Relatively loud. Expensive to run. Door hinge mended under warranty at four Months. Primary drum belt snapped at ten months old fixed within guarantee.Belt broke once again at around 2 years old.

Pretty decent clothes dryer and as we placed it in the garage, there was not a concern considering the noise. Good sized drum. It was recommended by local Appliance repair man that has supplied us with white goods for several years so we trusted that it would be great, However…

The belt split at thirteen months. We don’t use a local handyman any longer and I was not prepared to pay £100 to get Creda appear and fix it so I bought the part off the internet. Utter nightmare trying to fit the belt back on – its not long enough.

Total and utter junk. Engineer out 3 times in the first year. Unbelievably noisy. Now Creda TVR2 has broken entirely at two and a half years of age. Very lightly used, so no excuse. £100 call out charge so tossing it in the dump and buying a much better good quality make. Completely fake economy getting this dryer. Shouldn’t even be sold. Only wish I’d read some reviews before I committed my very hard earned cash to this piece of rubbish.

I recall my Dad retailing and repairing Creda Dryers more than 35 years ago and in those days they were the best dryer you could buy. Oh how times have changed. The Creda organization was bought over by the Indesit/Ariston Corporation a few years ago and in my personal opinion “These people have made absolutely nothing decent since then” All of the difficulties with the latest Creda, Hotpiont, Indesit and Ariston dryers in my oponion are down to serious cost cutting by the parent company. They removed the drum/ belt jockey pulley (which could have cost hardly any more than 1% of the total construct cost) and that created quite a few more issues than you have read.Keep away from Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda and Ariston Dryers. Consider a Zanussi or a White Knight as an alternative if you want to avoid costly tumble dryer repairs.
