Dimmable LED Lights In Your Home

It is very common nowadays for homeowners pursuing a green lifestyle to use LED lights.   Maybe you haven’t  heard yet that dimmable LED lights have been developed.  The ligthing industry worked very hard at figuring out how to make  dimmable LED lights and they finally succeeded.  A special design is required  for LEDs to be dimmable via a specific dimmer switch.  Regular LED lights should not  be used in dimmer circuits.

Incandescent lights use about five times as much energy as LED lights. In other words, you can exchange a 60W incandescent bulb with a 12W LED bulb. In certain applications, where you need a very more focused light, savings can be as high as 90%, because the light from LED buls is more directed than light from incandescent bulbs and you can therefore install a lower-wattage bulb.

These plus points of LED lights must be mentioned:

1. Non toxic

2. LED lights radiate much less heat in comparison with  incandescent lights with the same brightness. AC systems will operate less, if all the incandescent ligths are replaced with LED bulbs. 3.    Long lasting: LEDs can last up ten times as long as an incandescent light, which means that an LED light can last up to 20 years..

3. Long life: LED bulbs are long lasting and will not require replacement for many years.

4. The low energy requirement of LEDs makes them a perfect match for homes with solar PV collectors.

Yes, an LED light is more costly than incandescent or fluorescent light. Overall however, LEDs do cost less, because they use considerably less energy and they do last so much longer.

The broad offering of LED lights available today, above all the addition of dimmable LEDs, gives us the opportunity to find the best LED for just about any application.
